Janie Yang, MD is a skilled and passionate physician with expert knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the gastrointestinal system. She is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist, as well as an active member of numerous national societies for the practice of gastroenterology, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. From a young age, Dr. Yang has had a passion for science. Her wide-ranging research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented internationally. She attended the University of Wisconsin as an undergraduate and achieved a degree in biochemistry with Comprehensive Honors. She received her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. Prior to joining New York Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Yang completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Yang values a holistic approach to GI health based on open communication with patients, taking their whole medical history into consideration before reaching a diagnosis and finding the best treatment option. She provides individualized expert care in GI conditions such as difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, irregular bowel habits, abnormal liver function, and cancer prevention. She also has substantial knowledge in nutrition, and whenever possible prefers to help her patients make simple lifestyle changes to treat and prevent GI disorders. She is bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, and prides herself on connecting personally with patients of all backgrounds. In addition to providing high-quality patient care at NYGA and performing skilled endoscopy at ECNY, she also enjoys teaching gastroenterology fellows, residents and students as a Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In her free time, Dr. Yang is an avid fan of the arts who loves to explore New York City. She also enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines from different cultures, and spending time with her family.
